The Sunday School session begins in the Fellowship Hall, where all classes gather for a brief opening songs, prayers, and recognition of baptism birthdays and visitors. Coffee, juice and donuts are also available, beginning at approximately 9:15 a.m.
Children aged 2 years through 8th grade are taught using the Our Life in Christ curriculum from Concordia Publishing House (CPH), which covers all of the major Bible stories in a three year cycle. Memory work is encouraged at all levels, and has been designed to complement the confirmation memory work.
The High School class studies a variety of topics during the year. These have included the careful study of a book of the Bible or a point of Lutheran doctrine and a variety of current events and concerns. This class is held in the youth room, located in our Activity Center.
The Adult Sunday School Class is held in the Fellowship Hall. Study topics have included an in-depth look at a facet of our doctrine or the Lutheran confessions, a variety of current event topics, or an in-depth, verse-by-verse study of a book of the Bible.
A Small Group adult study meets in the Reception Room.
Sunday School – Youth (High School)
Our High School aged youth currently meet in the Messiah Activity Center (MAC) during the Sunday School hour.
Our youth are also involved in various fellowship and service activities during the year, and travel each summer to a retreat or conference.
We also focus on thought-provoking lessons, engaging discussions, and purposeful activities, our program creates a place where young people can explore and deepen their faith while cultivating meaningful relationships with mentors and peers. Our ultimate aim is to arm these young people with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to confidently navigate the challenges of today’s world with a steadfast commitment to their beliefs.
The Pastor’s class, an educational course taught by the Pastor, covers the basic teachings of the Bible as taught and confessed by the Lutheran Church. It is a prerequisite for membership in the Lutheran Church, but no one is ever pressured to join our congregation. All inquirers, and their questions, are welcome. This course is also a very good refresher course for confirmed Lutherans who haven’t studied the doctrine of our church for a while.
