Please join Messiah Lutheran Church for our weekly Lenten services starting with Ash Wednesday on March 5th. The theme for our midweek series this year will focus “Close to Jesus”, as we look at some of the individuals who were close to Jesus during the Passion account. Each service follows the order of Vespers (LSB 229).

Midweek Services start at 7pm

March 5th - Ash Wednesday with the Imposition of Ashes

March 12 - Midweek 1: Judas – Close enough to dip bread with Jesus

March 19 - Midweek 2: Peter, James and John – Close to Jesus, but sleepy

March 26 - Midweek 3: The High Priest – Close questioning Jesus

April 2 - Midweek 4: Pontius Pilate – Close to freeing Jesus

April 9 - Midweek 5: The Two Thieves – Close to Jesus in death

Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Sola Scriptura

This Latin phrase is a summary of what we, as Lutherans, believe and teach.

Grace alone...
in His great mercy and love, God sent His Son, Jesus, to bear the sins of all people
and to purchase forgiveness for the entire world. We are saved by grace alone.

Faith alone...
all that Jesus won for the whole world becomes ours by faith alone.
Through faith in Jesus Christ alone, we are counted righteous before God
and become heirs of heaven.

Scripture alone...
the Bible, which is the inspired Word of God, is the only authority and standard
of judgment in the Church. All teachings are measured by His clear Word.

All that we do at Messiah is a reflection of these simple, yet profound, truths.
